2025 RNEC Reunion

After the great success of the Reunion on 05 July, it is a good time to think about what comes next.

The general consensus is that:

• Manadon Reunions are held in Plymouth.
• There is a major reunion every 5 years, with smaller scale events annually (possibly with support from a member of the Reunion Committee)
• The Reunion is for:
• All who attended Manadon on any course (from the full 4-year degree course to PWO Tech course).
• All who were on the staff at Manadon (civilian or service, regardless of rank).
• Any family of student or staff, as a guest of those attendees, usually limited to one per 'college' attendee.
• The organising committee intend to continue to invite some special guests.
• The Reunion will be held in early autumn, to avoid the summer pressures.

As mentioned on the night, there is a healthy kitty to support progress towards future events and provide for charitable donations. On this occasion, we are giving £500 to SSAFA and £500 to RNOC; thank you for your support.

The organising committee will need some fresh blood – 2 volunteers have already been approached but ideally one more please from an EDC between 73 and 86 with good networking skills and just a bit of Tech. Tim Winter is standing down.

The next reunion committee meeting will be held online in September.

In the meantime, Jon Kidd is leading on the best approach to refurbish the sorry-looking VICTORIA figurehead, once proudly in front of the Manadon Wardroom and now languishing close to the Naval Heritage Centre. Watch this space for calls to action!
